Tellurium Applications

Synthesis of various tellurides used in semiconductor technologies is the main field of application. Tellurium is used also in metallurgy and as a dopant for steel and cast iron as well as for lead, copper for increasing their mechanical and chemical durability. Tellurium and its compounds are used in manufacture of catalysts, special glasses, herbicides and insecticides, etc. Bi₂Te₃ and Sb₂Te₃ are used in thermogenerators; CdTe in solar cell batteries, in semiconductor and laser techniques.
